  1. The bridle is a combination of pieces which are all connected to each other and are placed  on the horses head while riding. Which includes the bit and the reins. the bit goes into the horses mouth and is connected to the reins which the rider uses to control the horse. There is a part on the bridle which is similar to a headstall, but it's not a headstall.

A headstall isn't used in riding. You latch the lead rope onto the headstall so you can lead a horse around while you are on the ground. Eg. if you want to move it from one paddock to another, if you want to lunge the horse or to tie it up so you can wash it or brush it or whatever,

It's not usually used in riding but some people use a head stall and a lead rope when riding bareback because they can't be bothered putting on a bridle haha.

    hope this helps :D

  2. The headstall is the part of the bridle that goes behind the horse's ears and holds the bit in his mouth. Often a bridle has a noseband which comes down around the horse's muzzle. All bridles have a bit and reins. A headstall is simply part of the bridle.

  3. there are many kinds of equipment used on horses heads while riding. they are all correct, it just depends on what you're doing with the horse. a headstall is another word for riding a horse in a bridle without a bit, which is also known as a hackamore. the bit is what goes into the horses mouth, and the reins are what you hold on to.

  4. The combination of the headstall, bit, and reins is the bridle.  The headstall is just the leather (usually) part that goes up the sides of the horse's face and over the ears.

  5. it's kind of like tomatos different folks say it differently. lol to me it is a bridle when it has the heatdstall and bit put together, one without the bit is a headstall. It just depends on the person , region , and discipline you ride in.  I actually call them both sometimes I say I need a new bridle for this bit or I'll say I need a new headstall
