What do you call the fizzy, bubbly carbonated stuff that you drink?

i call it soda cause i was born in the north but i live in the south now and people say coke.  like no matter what the drink is, they say "what do you want to drink", i say "coke" and then they are like "what kind"

I thought you meant the specific carbonation, CO2.
