What do you call the kind of window unit that you can cut a hole out and put in your front door?

i saw someone do it on tv.They cut a rectangle hole in a metal door and put a stained glass window.but i cant seem to find one online and dont know that i am using the right keywords.

  1. Windows that are on doors are most times called lites I think that is what you are looking for. You will probably save more time and money just replacing the door, Due to the fact the glass has to be insulated and fit tightly and if you order the glass and cut the door and it doesnt fit you own it and the cost of the new door

  4. Usually its called a 'door insert'.  They can normally be found anywhere you buy doors... building supply, hardware stores, etc.

    I know our local hardware store keeps a selection of them in stock, all made to a standard size, so you can 'customize' the entry door you purchase from them.  These are typically for a panel in the upper half of the entry door.

    If you want actual 'stained glass', be prepared for sticker shock, hehehe.  Other options are 'beveled glass', or 'leaded glass'.
