What do you call the turbine looking things attached to the side window on classic truck??

Without a picture it is hard to tell of what you speak but here is an old timers guess.

That is the air conditioner. Vehicles back then did not have air conditioners so that 'turbo looking' thing is actually about half full of ice. While moving the air blows across it, cooling the air and then blows into the vehicle. Some actually had six volt fans in them so they would blow some cold air when the vehicle was stopped. Look for wires.

Starting to get warm in there? Stop and get more ice!
