  1. siamese fighting fish or betta

  2. The common betta sold in most pet shops is Betta splendens, also known as the Siamese fighting fish. Betta isn't Latin, it comes from a Thai language.

  3. They are more known as siamese fighters in aus.

I had a male and female which lived in same tank together and had babies. People say your not meant to put them in together but mine where fine. The female just hid in a cave ornament when male was having a mean day. Barney is the best name.

Also if u have one you shouldnt feed them more than two food pellets a day as they wond eat them and can contaminate the water and kill them. My BF found that out the hard way. ;)

    XX FLICK XX

  4. the fighting fish scientific name is   betta splendens. a lot of people call them bettas.    it was originally kept in siam and used as a sort of aquatic gamecock hence the name siamese fighting fish.  siam is the old name of modern day thailand. people who call them chinese fighter or japanese fighters are probably not well informed of asian geography and think all "orientals" are the same. and all of asia is one big island in the middle of nowhere.

  5. Siamese fighting fish or bettas

  6. siamese fighting fish, but most people say betta     you should name it henry. also they live in 1 gallon tanks or higher and require a heater.

  7. Plakat fighting fish

    Siamese fighting fish

    Thai fighting fish

    the names are all ok

  8. It's technically all of those, since anyone would recognize what fish you meant if using any of those names, but they are really Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta Splendens)- of course they can be further broken down into a few different 'sub groups' like crown-tail Bettas.

I like to give my fish interesting names, I only have two freshwater fish, a red betta named Griffin and a talking catfish named Waffle. My 3 dragon pipefish are named PVC, Pixel, and Fugi... I like names that make people ask, "Why?"

I have no idea what you could have missed, I just hope your not putting the poor thing in a bowl.

  9. there scientific name is betta splenden most people call them bettas or Siamese fighting fish

  10. Siamese Fighting Fish

IT IS NOT LATIN FOR SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH

I call them Siamese fighting fish because technically they are part of the Gourami Family.

And there are i believe a little over 25 species of Betta.
