What do you call this icing?

You design this in you cake and you can blend it into many colors. It is thick and you also have this is cream pie (is it that similar?).

Decorator's buttercream?  You put coloring in it, then you put it in a specially desinged plastic bag with a specialized tip at the corner that you squeeze it through to make shapes.  They have tips to make leaves, stars, flowers, balls, and a bunch of other shapes.

I am only guessing here but is there any chance at all that what your talking about is a meringue based (egg white) frosting.... such as boiled icing or a type of butter cream....not sure would really need more details
