What do you call this type of knife? The blade shoots out

My dad's friend showed him this knife, it looked like a normal knife, but when he hit a button on the handle the blade shot out, like flew off off the handle. This knife flew out with enough power to puncture a lung or cause serious injury (undoubtedly illegal). What do you call that type of knife/weapon?

To puncture a lung, it would have to go either through or between the ribs, which is impractical...

Everyone who said Switchblade is wrong. A switchblade is when it opens with the push of a button. He clearly said the blade was a projectile. This means it became detached from the knife and shot out. I have know idea what it's called but wanted to let you know that it ISN'T a switchblade.

At first i thought you meant switch blade but it is definitely not that i really dont know what its called but i would call it a push button

Stiletto (automatic switchblades),(spring loaded), Front opening Stiletto at push of button, Switchblade automatically opening from side, Butterfly knife two piece handle, flick of the wrist an operational knife! There are other types of stilettos as well. Stilettos used mainly for self defence. Switchblade  you can flick with your wrist as well (basic). Ballistic Knife, cool, never heard of it, something new to me, sort of similiar to Stiletto Front Opening.
