What do you call those clear cylindrical rubber-like solids with embedded devices in which you use a polishing wheel to see cross sectional views of the actual devices. Then after grinding the cylindrical things, you use a microscope to see the actual device. But I want to know what that clear rubber-like solid cylinder is called....

The grinding wheel which I used had an abrasive paper attached to the spinning wheel and continuous water kept flowing so that it could clean the plastic-like cylinders.
