We hear this word a lot when people are making judgments about Barrack Obama, what is a patriot in your words? How should one carry themselves or do to honor their country? Should one put out an American Flag, say the Pledge of Allegiance, join the armed forces, what does it take to be a patriot, I like to know. Thanks.

  1. A patriot is a person who loves their country enough to ask why.

In this I mean a person who will ask questions and demand answers, a person who is not only concerned with the present, but the future of the nation.  Any body can say a pledge or own an American flag.   It takes courage to fight for your country, even if it is just by asking questions.

  2. one who loves and defends his or her country

I served in Iraq on 3 occasions and would do it a gain and again... I was also in the gulf war. I served with the Marines as a Navy combat medic in Fallujah.

and just an FYI... Mcain was a POW and served our country!

  3. honor is a forgotten word. i country is being runned my criminals, they dwell on the freedoms and rights our country gives them

  5. I consider a patriot one who stands up against a unjust government.

  6. A true patriot is someone whose patriotism is shown by his silent actions, and not by declaring to the whole world that he is a patriot. A true patriot is someone who never questions the patriotism of others, nor compare his own patriotism with that of the others.

  7. A person who obeys the  law and pays taxes. Also one who questions his government when his government goes astray. One who serves in the military.
