I don't get it McCain always says that he considers middle class people to earn $150,000. and less. Be honest how many people do you know with a high school ed. and maybe some collage to earn $150,000 a year? (which is what most middle class blue collar workers are). In his definition what would he consider a family of two that's disabled and living on only $15,000. a year? (which is to much by the way for any Govermant assit).

  1. I am not sure McCain ever said that, however I know for a fact Obama did say those exact words so you may want to rephrase your question.

  2. You are correct. I would say an upper middle class family makes about 80,000 a year - based two working parents making about twenty dollars an hour. Plain old, working joe/jane middle class makes about half that. Just show how out of touch republican leaders are. What would McCain say bout a disabled family making 15,000 - Your on your own, it's not the governments job to help you; it's the government's job to tell you how to live your life, send you children off to die in a meaningless conflict, protect big business from the concerns of citizens, to make sure the rich and powerful stay rich and powerful, to make sure your car has to pass emissions while suspending the pollutant caps for industry, it's the governments job to regulate the h**l out of free citizens while imposing no regulations on the free market, to stand by and do nothing while the oil industry destroys are economy. McCain would say quit whining, get a job and take care of yourself - whether your capable of doing so or not. He would say it is the American way.

  3. The Average U.S. Median Family Income is over $56,000.

Where I live, in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Median Family Income is almost $80,000.

"I guess if you're making $3 million a year, you're middle class," Obama told a campaign event in New Mexico.

"That's reflected in ... his policies," Obama said, adding McCain would give a $500,000 tax credit to people making more than $2.5 million.

9% of McCain's Tax Cuts would go to the Bottom 80% of Americans. Over 58% to the Richest 1%.

  4. A family of two that's disabled and living on only $15,000. a year is called working poor.  You live paycheck to paycheck and fall through the cracks.

A middle class person does not live paycheck to paycheck.  They are able to save some money and comfortably buy a house and two decent vehicles.  McCain was right on the money with this one.

I don't know when the media decided that working class are middle class, they are not. I am not being snooty, I am also working class, but I grew up middle class.  I know the difference.

Education doesn't always have a bearing on how much money you make.  In my town you can have an MBA and only make $25,000 a year.  The times have also changed. In the 1950's through the 1970's one person in the household only needed to work a decent job to have his entire family live middle class.  Since the 1980's,  you have to have at least two.
