Besides a driver, a putter, pitching and sand wedges, which irons and woods would you consider the most useful?

  1. If you can’t carry the ball for around 240 yards, you should seriously consider replacing your 2- and 3- iron with a hybrid and if you struggle to hit 220 yards consistently you should probably also think twice about your 4-iron. In fact if you feel any apprehension about hitting a long iron, you should consider trying a hybrid.

  2. I carry:

    Driver

    2 Hybrids

    3-PW, GW, SW

    Putter

    Essentials?

    Long Hybrid

    5 iron

    7 iron

9 iron (or PW, whichever you're more comfortable hitting)

You can always putt by intentionally blading your long hybrid or 5 iron.

A true minimalist would probably even lose the 5 or 7 (again depending on how consistent you hit either one)

  3. Woods: 3 wood - can be used on tee and fairway and is accurate

Irons: 4 iron - good for tighter fairways off the tee

8 iron - Good for low pitches and chip and run

  4. A wood or hybrid (any of them) which can fill in the distance in between driver and 3-4iron.

Helpful when playing long par 3s or second shots into any long hole. Even useful if you need to be accurate on a tee shot.

Basically its so useful since it can be used anywhere from the tee, the rough, next to the green....... anywhere

  5. middle length irons 9 8 7 6

  6. For irons, probably 6 thru 9, I would also include a 3 or 5 wood for the tie fairway tee shots and at least 1 hybrid, may be a H3 or H4 for the longer distance shorts.

For me personally, I MUST have a 60 degree log wedge for the 'around the green' shots.

  7. driver,3 wood,5 wood,4 iron,5 iron,6 iron,7 iron,8 iron,9 iron,pitching wedge, sand wedge,and putter. Thats 12 clubs and the max is 14 so you could have 2 more clubs.

  8. it all depends on the course but 5 wood usually a good idea i have a 3 wood havent used it for about a year so probably not a 3 wood, 9 iron , 7 iron, 5 iron like a mid-set eg. if u have a distance shot for a 8 iron hit half a 7 iron or something like that

  9. The 5 essential clubs you should learn play an entire round of golf with is a 3 wood, 7 wood/hybrid 4 iron, 7 iron, pitching/sand wedge, and the putter. I have played multiple rounds with just those clubs and you learn to control your swing and make better shot decisions with less clubs.

  10. All of them.  But if I had to choose just one iron and one wood, it'd be 5 wood / 2 hybrid, and 7 iron.

  11. I love my 8 iron.  A full 120 yards to a 30 foot pitch and run.  Use it all the time.
