This may be completely obvious and I'm missing it, but hey. Let's hear your opinions because I'm stumped.

  1. Do you mean her title? It depends if she carries a title herself,is from an aristocratic background. If she is an ordinary citizen,no titles held by her family, she is Miss,Ms.,Mrs.---,sister-in-law to the Prince . If she comes from an aristocratic background, like Diana,Princess of Wales did(daughter of an earl),she'd be Lady---,sister-in-law to the Prince.

  2. Given your description...a commoner.  or whatever her title might be otherwise.

  3. The prince's sister-in-law doesn't necessarily bear any title. Being related through marriage to royalty doesn't come with a title.

  4. Unless the Prince's wife and her sister are from an aristocrat family with titles, her sister will remain a commoner without titles. When a commoner lady marries into royalty or into an aristocrat family, she will receive a courtesy title. A courtesy title is a form of address in systems of nobility used by children, former wives and other close relatives of a peer. These styles may mislead those unacquainted with the system into thinking that they have substantive titles. A substantive title (or substantive peerage) is a title of nobility or royalty held by someone (normally by one person alone), which they gained through either grant or inheritance, as opposed to one given or loaned to them either as a courtesy title, or gained through marriage.

  5. In England, a woman's title before marriage depends upon her father's rank.  After marriage, she takes her title, or lack thereof, from her husband.  For instance, Kate Middleton, the daughter of an airline pilot turned businessman, Michael Francis Middleton, has a younger sister, Philippa.  Should Kate marry Prince William, her sister would stay Miss Middleton until she married a Mr John Doe, thereby becoming Mrs John Doe, unless, of course, she married someone with a title.

Similarly, as daughters of Viscount Althorp, the heir to the Earl of Spencer, the sisters of Lady Diana Spencer were born the Honourable Cynthia Jane Spencer and the Honourable  Elizabeth Sarah Lavina Spencer.  They, along with their more famous sister, acquired the courtesy title of Lady when their father became 8th Earl Spencer.   Sarah married Neil Edmund McCorquodale in May 1980, and Cynthia Jane married Robert Fellows in 1978.  Fellows, an assistant private secretary to the Queen, was granted a Life Peerage as Baron Fellows in June 1999, making Jane Baroness Fellows.

  6. Family members do not receive titles at the marriage unless bestowed upon them by the queen. Ex: Sarah Ferguson is the Duchess of York but her family is considered common. She may have also relinquished that title at the divorce.

  7. A prince's sister-in-law bears whichever title she brings on the basis of birth or her own marriage.  In other words, she has no title by nature of her sister's marriage.  However, she is usually a "palace insider" as long as she and her sister or brother-in-law get along.

  8. Well connected!

    best of luck to you!

  9. The sister of a a prince's wife would not bear any title as a result of her sibling's marriage.  She may hold a title in her own right or through a marriage (for example, Princess Diana's sister is a Baroness because she is married to a Baron).
