with today's changing life styles what is a family unit. Is it the traditional family of Mom, Dad, siblings or does it include a family of a social nature. ex. my roommates from school, the people I work with, my bowling team. Are cousins, grandparents, aunts uncles part of the family unit still. Does a family have to be related by blood or marriage to be a family unit?

  1. There is a difference between a family unit and a support group/network.  A family unit would consist of at least two people, usually related, that live together.  (I wouldn't include your roommate) What I mean is that If one child lives with one grandparent, they are still considered a family unit.  Stepsiblings, where they aren't related by blood, are still part of a family unit.  A married couple without children is still a family unit.  Your cousins, etc are family, but not in your family unit unless they live with you.

Your roommates, workmates, and bowling team are your support network.

  2. NO I DONT THINK SO CAHSE I HAVE FRIENDS I CONCIDER FAMILY,,AND YES ALL YOU RRELATIVES R CONCIDERED FAMILY UNIT,,,PEACE

  3. I don't think that there are a lot of traditional families anymore because of our society today. Things change as the years go by. The traditional family was great because you spent more quality time together as a family. But that is a thing of the past. A family unit I believe is what works for you. What makes you happy and the people involved in your life happy. Anyone can be a family. Your friends, blood relatives. the next door neighbors, your ex, foster homes, anyone who you love and who loves you. Again it's what makes you happy.
