Myself I rescue and do up as many old beige box PC's as I can.

This way I know they are not going to be dumped and become toxic waste.

  1. I have news for you... your efforts are in vain and will not do diddly squat to stop climate change.

Sure I believe in recycling, being good stewards of this planet, but NOT because we're being scared with this big Climate Change c**p.

I do NOT believe in global warming, but I still try to live modestly and I try to do my part in keeping this place look like a dump.

  2. i planted a flower

  3. Nothing at all.

    Love Jack

  4. I ride the bus as often as I can.

  5. Actually, we have quite a list of things we do.

Power strips on all the appliances that don't have to be on 24/7 - and we turn them off when we don't expect to use them.

Compact florescent bulbs in almost every socket, and some to go in those when the bulb burns out.

I hang laundry out and only dry what can not dry outside.

I walk my son to the bus stop rather than drive him to school.

We buy "vintage" furniture when-ever possible.

I am making an effort to recycle more, and a friend suggested I start a recycling club here in our little town so we could make group trips to the recycle center (about 30 miles away).

My husband is actively researching the possibility of converting one of our cars to a plug in electric.  If we do not do that, we will likely replace a vehicle with a plug in electric when they become commercially available.

I tend to try to live beneath my means, because a "high consumption" lifestyle really seems illogical to me.  If someone only likes me for my stuff, then I can live without his or her approval.

I know there is more to do - I need to get serious about the impact of our diet, and I'm thinking of giving up coffee altogether.

A friend sent me a good interactive link in an e-mail about our impact.  If I can find it, I'll post it.  It was on a question here, but the question got deleted.

  6. Made my home as energy efficient as possible - it consumes less than one-third the US national average household energy consumption.

    Recycle whenever possible.

Bought a Prius to more than double my car's mileage efficiency.

Bought an electric scooter for commuting to work when I don't bike.

Support politicians who make the environment a top priority.

Try and inform people about the science behind global warming.

  7. Walk/ride bike when it is possible

turn lights off when I am not in a room

pretty much I do some small stuff.

  8. I don't drive! At least not until they get some hydrogen, electric, or some non-fossil form of fuel in my area.

  9. Hi, my name is Jessica and I have just be named the North West's climate change champion

I am 13 and really want to make a difference to our worlds fate (that isn't looking so super at the moment)

I have always been brought up to look after things I save up for or get given

and i think most people do the same

So why not look at it in the bigger picture

the world is that something we have been given so why are we so  badly mistreating it?

It is great that people are saying that they have solar panels and do not ever drive anywhere but truthfully in our world today that is not always possible so I think it is better to do lots of little things

Like walking instead of travelling by car once a week if possible or buying products that have not been imported from other countries or even cities (go to farmers markets- there is a great atmosphere and it also saves alot of environment as the produce has not had to be shipped in)

As for me I have as I said just won a competition and I have been granted a thousand pounds to plan an event in my school raising awareness about climate change

Also I haveset up an environment group in my school and I have a termly newsletter sent around my school (that I write) about new scientific updates concerning global warming.

and lots of ways to help

I hope this has been of some interest to you

    xx

  10. I do quite a few things, actually:

    * I don't eat any meat or fish, and I eat extremely little dairy products.

    * I save and reuse plastic bags.

    * I don't consume too much (I never buy new clothes, for example). I do not shop except for essentials.

    * I try to buy organic food products and locally grown foods whenever possible. I also look forward to the introduction of climate labelling of products in this country (Sweden).

    * I'm a member of a number of environmental groups, local, national and international.

    * I recycle.

    * I ride bicycle and walk more often than I take bus.

    * I do not own a car.

    * I work part time at the Traffic and Environment Office in my city, working on car-use reduction projects.

    * All of my light bulbs are compact fluorescents, I also give them to friends and relatives for holiday and birthday presents.

    * I study a lot about climate change (by reading and participating in a study circle in a climate group) and then I try to inform my friends, if asked questions about it (like here and how).

    * I'm doing my Master's Programme in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science and write a thesis about transition towards low-carbon society.
