I switched my DL from NC to Michigan and then back to NC again. I am now registered in both states to vote. Am I supposed to let them know that I no longer have a valid MI DL? I am really confused about this!

  1. Update your records so that you will not be denied of your voting rights by being registered in two states.

  2. Just telephone the county registrar of voters or county clerk's office in your county, and tell them that you now are registered in North Carolina. They will take the information, and they wil notify the registrar in Michigan, and they will cancel your old regisrtation.

Actually, when you registered to vote again in North Carolina, you had to fill out part of the form that required you to list your old address and state, and they will automatically cancel that old registration. they should already have sent that information to Michigan, and your Michigan voter registration should automatically have been cancelled already.

Here is a link to the website of the voter's registration in North Carolina. You can see the section that asks your old address, and says that they will cancel the old registration:

    http://www.co.currituck.nc.us/forms/elec...

The fact of you not having a valid Driver's License is irrelevant. They go by the voter registration, not by the records of the state's DMV.

  3. Many states have forms online that allow you to cancel your voter registration, so you should check online at this website: https://services2.sos.state.mi.us/mivote... . While not having a drivers license in Michigan doesn't invalidate your right to vote, if you are making your residence in North Carolina, you should check to see if you are already still registered there rather than registering again -- you can check that here: http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/
