If you are a citizen of two nations, let's say Spain and the US, what do you do when traveling between them? If I'm flying to Spain from the US... and I take my Spanish passport, what happens when I have to come back to the US... no stamp will be in it as if I ever left! Will this cause problems?

  1. I believe you show both passports on entering each country.

If you were traveling to some other country that required a visa I guess you would have to decide which passport you'd want to enter that country with.

  2. if you live in the US, going out of the country of US, use your US passport as well as entering Spain, returning to the US, same thing ;US passport only...

it all depends which country you live in?

the matter is ? which country you actually live in?

while in Spain? you are an spanish citizen always, no need to use your spanish passport either.

in the US, you are an US citizen,

go back to US? use US passport only .

i have dual citizenship as well .

always use the passport from the country you reside in.

some country (like in AFrica, demand that you show your birth passport.

it goes without saying that you take both with you, without showing both of them at the borders.

  3. US citizens must use their US passport when re-entering the USA.  You would want to because the lines are much quicker in my experience.  The USA is not concerned about which passport you use to gain entry to another country.  As a citizen you are free to come and go as you please.

  4. You show your US and SPANISH Passports but they will take one passport only for  entrance and exit stamp in Customs.(you choose)

  5. Play safe and bring both.  You would want to use the Spanish one to enter Spain, otherwise you would need to get a visa  -  pricey business, especially when you have the right to enter for free.
