What do you do at training at Olive Garden for a server?

Oooh! I don't know, being a stay-at-home mother, but I will tell you this: Olive Garden is my FAV resterent!!! If I come in, willya give me a discount?! LOL!!!!

Well, I never worked at Olive Garden but I have worked for other chains and it's always kind of similar. You will have classroom time  They will tell you info about the company, teach you all of the menu items and what is in them. (ie: what does the tour of italy have) then they will test you on various things. (ie: How long do you have to greet a table after they sit down, how long do you to check back on the guest) as well as food item questions (ie: What type of cheese are in the 5 cheese pasta, what desserts do we offer) You typically don't have to pass these.

Sometime also during the training, you have actual follows. Where you are following someone around being their shadow. Then by day 2 your doing more work, day 3 your doing half of it and day 4 and 5 your doing pretty much all of it and they are making sure you are doing everything okay.

Then you have to be certified by a manager or head server in which you need to pass before you are allowed on the floor and they will ask you things - it's no longer a test paper. It's a verbal test.
