What do you do during a PhD in Medicine? Is it only a research or you will also take lectures on the subjet?

What will a student of (PhD in Oncology) study? Will he only do research on, eg, a particular anticancer drug or a cancer gene, or he will also take lectures on Oncology in general?

  1. Usually both, but it depends on the program.  You still need to take comps, and you may need coursework to be ready for them.  Generally you are in a clinical setting and also doing research.
