I am a stay-at-home mom. I am involved in community stuff, like church and mentoring, but I get so bored sometimes and I love a variety of activities, like sewing, reading, baking and emailing family. I could use a couple other hobbies. I'm not working at my husband's request; I am definitely happy to oblige in that department (I used to be a teacher). Any suggestions?

  1. Spend time at a local senior home reading and being a friend. So many families seem to forget about the seniors unless its a special occasion.

Volunteer at your local woman's shelter, being a teacher you would be welcomed by the children who need school help.Let alone the mothers who need help and a friend in their time of need.

    Good luck : )

  2. How about taking up a new craft? There are lots of good how-to groups to get you started on something for yourself. You already contribute to the community, but everyone needs to feel they are progressing & learning new skills. How about photography?

My friend had a dull, frustrating job, with busy periods and long stretches of waiting around in unfamiliar places. He walked a lot, for a break, but only to kill time. He bought a new digital camera, set up a Flickr account, & started to see themes and new angles in everything. He also felt less self-conscious wandering around a new location. It really boosted his confidence.

  3. Spend an hour exercising 3-4 times a week. You'll create endorphins that keep you happy and upbeat.
