Question:

What do you do for back pain?

I have back pain due to a slightly misaligned spine (my doctor has said they can't do anything to correct it).

I have regular massages, used to see a chiropractor (didn't seem to help), I do yoga (and other forms of exercise), use hot and cold packs, but I still I have back pain (I'm otherwise fit, and in my early 30's).

The pain is mostly concentrated in the mid-spine (not upper or lower back), and is worse in the morning.

Other than drugs, does anyone know of anything that might help? Something that has worked for them that I can try?

Anything - anything you can suggest is appreciated. I'm desperate.

Thanks!

  1. I will second the TENS unit. They also make portable units that take a 9 volt battery and can deliver quite a strong shock for longer than you would think. Both my aunt and I have one and they both came with two rechargeable batteries. A fully charged battery will last most of the day and we rarely have to use the second battery for very long after the first one goes dead. And you can pick up 9 volt batteries almost anywhere.

  2. Using a TENS machine allows me to have a little respite from my pain, I believe that it helps many people, personally it only helps me whilst I am attached to the thing, within minutes of recieving a treatment the pain returns. Those 45 minutes of being totally free from bliss is heavenly.        It's worth trying ..........

  3. back belts to hold ur back helps. Don`t pick heavy weights and BE VERY CAREFUL about the positions u take when u bend...try to keep ur back straight..
