  1. I have four dogs a German shepherd, a poodle mix,a chihuahua/pomeranian mix and a jack russell terrier:

    - Jog for 45 minutes in the afternoon after work.

    - Playing fetch for 30 minutes in the afternoon.

    - jog for 45 minutes in the evening.

    It's about 2 1/2 - 3 miles.

  2. All dogs are different and need different amounts of exercise.  My dog goes for an hour walk in the morning then gets yard activity during the day with playing fetch and just running around after the birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc.  He use to go to the dog park for about 2 hours a day also, but he recently broke his leg and is on restrictive exercise for 90 days.  I play tug with him in the house and fetch also.  If your dog is not getting enough exercise she will probably let you know.

  3. I jog with my dog but you can put him on a threadmill if you dont like walking him

  4. walk in the woods around a mile

  5. Sounds similar to what I do with my 2 coonhounds which is a breed that supposedly needs lots of exercise.  (Note:  I thought I was the only one crazy enough to have a dog run in a heel next to the bike! - Mine love it!)

If the dog is not overweight and is not showing other signs of being "restless" such as various distructive behaviors), you are giving enough!

  6. With my dog we play around inside until were both exhausted.. and he also goes out side chased lizards and birds and everything else. Oh yea i think that's enough exercise

  7. Well, in the summer I work seven hours a day, six days a week at dog daycare. So, they both go with me five days out of the week and get a whole TON of exercise running around completely nonstop with their buddies.

On top of that, every morning we go out for a twenty minute walk, and every evening we go on our twenty minute walk (weather permitting, of course). Brogans got that wacky never-ending puppy energy right now, so he's been getting more attention than Jake (not that Jake minds-he thoroughly enjoys lazy days laying in the grass, sun bathing!). More last minute "alright, we need to get rid of this energy" trips to the dog park for Brog, and also more training sessions because he's just got so much to learn still.

Aside from work and our daily walks, they both get frequent trips to the beach in the summer where they get to romp up and down and splash around like the goons that they are. I literally take them everywhere with me, so we are nearly always out doing something-working, hiking, swimming, walking, etc.

During school, it's a bit different. I only work two days a week, so we just take some extra time on our walks and visit the dog park when we can. The school year is inane for me, between school, homework, the dogs, and horseback riding there is little to no time for anything extra. If they get really really antsy, as they do when they have a few days off of work, then I will drop them off at daycare for the day and say "OK go be goofs with your buddies" but I much prefer to do the exercising WITH them instead of being lazy and just dumping them there for a few hours.

Funny thing is, with all this exercise they get, if they have more than two days off (no work or walks, like say, when i am sick) they are both going INSANE in the house. Ugh, there IS a downside to having well-exercised dogs! haha

  8. i have a great dane x

morning walk about 30 mins... most days

afternoon games of fetch/running at the local pony club..

  9. I'm home all day so my dogs, I have two, are in and out a lot.  I play frisbee with them, or just a game of catch.  Then they run around like banshees playing with one another.  They have lots of energy, they're 2 and 1... Me, not so much...LOL...

Sounds like your doing enough for exercise with your dog...

  10. I have a schnauzer mix. She gets walked for a mile a day - either in one walk or two. She also gets the occasional trip to the park or another "crowded" place for training purposes and we've recently started playing a game of fetch on a retractable lead in our side yard for about 20 minutes a day.

Yet she still seems to have energy... Lol. Sounds like you're doing fine with your dog.

  11. lol my dog runs for 10 minutes in our backyard...just because she wants to, she has run a track between our plants and the fense. and also we take her for a walk or two during the day.
