  1. i work as a lab proctor at university in my area... i'm a freshman and the job doesn't really need any qualifications. you just have to be able to take care of simple printer and computer maintenance and be able to make sure people don't eat/drink or talk on their cells in the lab.. simple job and you get to use the time to study and u get paid around $7.5/hr. the only bad thing about it is that during this summer i don't have classes so it's really boring and quiet.. i really mean it. every time my phone vibrates i jump from surprise.

  2. Before I quit to raise my kids, I worked at a public accounting firm as a CPA. Obviously, you need a degree in finance or accounting, along with the ability to pass the CPA exam (not always an easy feat). This may come as a surprise to some people, but you need really good people skills in public accounting. You're dealing with different clients and other employees at the firm all of the time, and you need to be pleasant, helpful and a team player in order to do well in a public accounting setting. The bad news, not surprisingly, is tax season. The hours get pretty ugly from February through April, but at least there are no surprises there. Starting pay is about $40,000 in a major metro/suburban area, and accounting is still a profession that's in demand by employers.
