Question:

What do you do if somebody is suffocating in foam? (e.g., bubblebath?)?

I just thought about it earlier - what would happen if, say, you had somebody who was in a bath with lots of bubbles in it or something, and the foam got into their airways and they started suffocating? And I don't mean just bubblebath either - I'm referring to any type of foam. Surely you couldn't give them mouth-to-mouth because it would just push the foam further into their airways?

This isn't an emergency situation by the way. I'm just curious!

  1. Think about this....foam is mostly air filled bubbles.  As you inhaled, the bubbles would pop and release the air inside them.

  2. For those of you who said give CPR, you never give CPR unless the person's heart has stopped beating.  In this case, your best bet would be to give Artificial Respiration if they had stopped breathing.  Likely though, they would just cough a few times and would be able to clear their airways on their own.

  3. just drink water to kill the taste the bubbles would disappear as soon as you swallowed them but could give a nasty cough for a while

  4. Its simple.... the person would cough an the airway would clear its self. its foam not a plug :)

  5. You could give them cpr, foam is nothing more than a bunch of tiny bubbles that would pop after a few seconds. Think about how soda foams up when you open the bottle, it evaporates rather quickly. Same goes for bubble bath foam.

  6. wtf u think of some weired things but yer thats a good question ha

  7. stick a vacuum cleaner in their mouth ;)
