Simple methods?

Preferably ones that don't involve taking meds or seeing any type of shrink or doctor?

Ive been feeling down and low for a long time now.

Then a few months back it started making me feel physically ill.

I'm just so tired of feeling ill and down all the time and not being able to sleep properly.

I feel like i'm not really me any more.

So yeah any advice is welcome.

  1. Are you getting out into the sun at all?  If not get under a sunlamp for a while.  They have found that in the Polar Region where there months of night that people get really depressed from lack of sunlight.  That is the only thing I can think of that doesn't involve a professional or medication.

However, you are talking about symptoms of depression that are serious enough to need help.  I would be doing you a disservice if I did not tell you to see a professional (doctor or counselor).

  2. You shouldn't let your "sadness" affect your life. What you need to do is realize what the cause of your sadness think about it and reflect on and move on. You can do anything that will make you happy by going out with your friends, spending time with family. Basically make yourself busy enough to a point when you don't have time to be sad.

  3. You need to see a doctor.  Period.

  4. You won't like this...BUT...you need to see a Doc for a professional diagnosis.   You may just need a vitamin...but no one here can diagnose what's WRONG! Good luck and God bless!

  5. Paint the house.

  6. I just met a very interesting young man who is running across Canada to promote awareness of depression and anxiety... he is convinced that EXERCISE is a definite cure for this problem... has proven it to himself and is doing this to help others.

At this time his has run from Newfoundland to cape Breton and he's financing this venture on his own!  A remarkable, gentle and caring young man... I hope to see him again when he runs across Ontario in October... as he is very knowledgable about this problem taht affects 20% of the population.  You have already done the first step and that is TALKING about your depression... just make sure you see a doctor and that it's not a doctor who will just write 'scrip. for drugs,,, it is the beginning of a serious problem that might well be helped with exercise!
