i live in adelaide, south australia and there is no waves, the only waves we get maby 1 time every 2 or 3 weeks is a freezing stormy in winter. the closest surf beach is half an hour away and i am only allowed to go 1 time every month. i really love surfing, it is my favorite sport, but i only get to do it 1 time every month unless there is a freezing cold stormy at my local beach.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, I AM FREAKING OUT

  1. If you're only permitted to go once a month, check out the the surf before you go on surfline.com. This way you'll know whether to make the trip, or not.

  2. what should you do? the only thing you can do. either surf the cold storms and wait for some good days---like everyone else, or stop surfing.

  3. I feel your pain man, my local spot only hits in the winter. All summer we get some waves, but they are super small and (maybe like you) all we can do is longboard. The waves are so small it's dull after a bit but it gets you by.

Have you tried a long board skateboard for the long periods between? http://www.specialtysports.com/SearchRes... That's what most of us do.

Or make friends with the local wakeboarders, have them load up one side of the boat and you can surf (with no rope) behind on a standing wave. It's super fun and will really help out with your problem.
