  1. ask all your friends to see if they want it put flyers in places like petco petsmart and other pet stores maybe even some in the vet and if your lucky someone will want it before you have to do something aweful!

              Good Luck!

  2. Yeah usually, but they aren't that much. And besides what else is she going to do, really abandon it and let it go? Not too smart.

Go to local pet stores and see if you can post a sign for a free cat. Contact local rescue agencies. Go to petfiner.com and post it their as well.

    Best of luck.

  3. tell her she can list the cat on craigslist.org in her area and it's free. Maybe even run an ad in the newspaper?

  4. this link talks about that..

really the SPCA is the best place, and some ask for fees, but understand if you cannot pay..

  5. Many shelters charge abandonment fees to cover their costs after taking over care of their animal.  Usually these are minimal and can be waived if proof is presented of the financial hardship.  Unfortunetly though, many SPCA's and Shelters will euthanise the animal after so many days or if they deam in unfit for adoption.  See what the shelters policy is about this first.  Also, look for "No-Kill" Shelters in your area.  Most towns have at least one.  These are the best if the cat is still healthy and happy.  They will look for a home for the cat.  Also, what about finding it a foster home, or taking it yourself?? There are so many options, but try to avoid unnecessary euthanization if at all possible.  Finally, if you give the cat to someone, make sure you know them and how well they care for their animals.  Nothing is sadder then just handing an animal over to a stranger, not knowing anythign about their animal care habits.  A pet is part of the family, and even if you have to give it away, put it somewhere where you are all comfortable in believing it is getting the same love and attention you or your friends family would provide.

  6. If she must pay, then she must pay.

  7. Many charge a abandonment fee but if it is a financial hardship many will waive the fee. However is is usually a small fee just to cover the expenses of food and shelter. She can always try a ad posted in a local store and ask for a small payment to help find a good caring home.
