  1. Stop feeding him by hand. It depends on how young he is. If he's under 12 weeks, he may do that because he isn't confident in his eating skills. Over 12 weeks, and he's picked up bad habits.

Leave his food in a clean bowl on the floor and eventually he'll help himself. Don't feed him by hand and don't allow anyone else to. He'll figure it out really quick.

  2. I have a new puppy too and we put his food in his dish and all he does is smack it and if falls on the floor and he eats it off the floor!  maybe yours will be kinda like that put it on the floor and leave it there he will eat when he is hungry...I wonder if they don't like the bowls (mine are stainless) however he does not smack his water dish  thank goodness!

  3. You may want to try sitting him by his feeding bowl and just give him a taste from your hand making sure he sees where your getting it from(his bowl).

  4. Don't feed him by your hand any more, if you keep feeding him by your hand he'll never eat by himself.. let him be hungry,, your puppy will start eating from his bowl..

  5. i would take him/her to his/her bowl then give him/her s lil in ur hand and wile its esting it slowly move your hand down to the bowl and then drop the food in the bowl make sure it sees you and then u no it knows its there and when it gets hungrey enough it will eat it hope i helped!!

  6. my puppy will sometimes do that, but as soon as her mother starts eating her food she dives straight in.

  7. He will eat when he's hungry. Put his food down (in a bowl), leave it down for 15 mins max. If he doesn't eat, pick it up & don't offer him any food until his next meal is due, then repeat. He'll soon get the idea.

He's training you really well & being rewarded by all the attention he is getting. You need to stop it now before he turns iinto a spoiled brat!

  8. I agree with the first anwser if you keep feeding them they get use to it so just leave the bowl on the floor and it will eat when its ready to eat

  9. stop feeding him by hand.  just leave the food in the bowl.  he will eat when he gets hungry.

  10. Make sure your the bowl you are using is clean.  Maybe change the type of bowl. I had a dog that wouldn't eat or drink out of a plastic bowl. We changed it with stainless steel bowls and it's been fine ever since.  If this doesn't work you should stop feeding him.  He will go and eat eventually... their instincts shouldn't let them starve to death.  If he is quite stubborn and you are worried talk to your vet.

  11. umm i dont no who hard it would be to fing thins but maybe as a last result you could get a dog bowl thts in the shape of a hand or hands lol

  12. that happens to my dog ,shes a black shitzuh small and veryy cute.

What you do is stop feeding him from your hands because he will become dependant on that and it will be harder for him to eat his food. it can also be because you only have dry food for him , my dog sometimes prefers wet food ,also remember human food can cause dogs problems because their bodies aren't made to digest human food. Good luck =]

  13. dont let him only feed him in a bowl dont do something that hard to undo

  14. Quit feeding it from your hand, it will get hungary and eat from it's bowl. In order to train a dog you must be smarter than one.
