1st thing you are to young and you'll hear that from everyone but at 14 your still in Junior High going into High School. You have your whole High School Years to decide on what you want and after High School. 2nd thing if he loves you, wants to be with you he'll wait for you and respect your decison on whatever you decide. If he doesn't! Then forget him there are plenty of Fish out there.

if he claims to " love you ", tell him to wait another atleast 5 years,

Well, the nice thing to do would be to politely decline his request, but say you are flattered that he asked. I wish someone had told me that when I was in your situation!

When I was 14 my 16 y/o boyfriend invited me to a barbecue at his parents' house. When I got there he had two dozen red roses for me. His whole family was there and clustered around me and my mom.  A big banner between two trees said "Congratulations to the Happy Couple". Needless to say I was a little confused. Well, all of a sudden he gets down on one knee, opens a little box, and with everyone watching proposed to me! Oh, maybe I should have mentioned, we'd only been dating for about a month AND I WAS FOURTEEN!

Well, my mom burst out laughing. I mean REALLY laughing. She was practically rolling on the ground and tears were streaming from her eyes. I was horrified! We certainly weren't sleeping together (I was still a virgin), and the only reason I could think of that a 16 y/o boy (and his FAMILY) would propose to anyone would be because she was pregnant. I just stood there like a rock, and he thought that was a "yes" so he grabbed my hand to put the ring on. Before I even knew what I was about to do... I punched him right in the nose!

So I'm standing there in the middle of his whole family, my mom laughing so hard that she can't even stand up, and my would-be fiance has blood streaming from his nose! That was about all I could take, so I ran back to the car and when I got home I had my sister bring him all of the gifts he'd ever given me and the letter he'd written. Until he "popped the question" I thought that I knew what love was, but in that instant, looking at the rest of my god-given life as the wife of this pimply-faced, obsessive, momma's boy I knew that I still had no clue. :)

I wouldn't believe him firstly. Secondly you can't marry him its illegal.  Thirdly, at your age and if he is close in age, he wouldn't understand what the commitment of marriage is. Lastly, I would take it more of a compliment rather then an engagement.

First, i would ask if he was being serious. If he was, i would say yes if i loved him lol, just because he asked u to marry him doesn't mean u guys have to get married anytime soon. Many people stay engaged for years before they marry, and in ur case it's not a matter of choice because ur only 14 lol. At least u'll know he wants to make a commitment. If u don't want to even go that far say u love him and u want to take things slow, he can get u a promise ring instead, it's like a ring that says someday we'll marry.
