  1. Ask them what they would invent. They may not tell you with out a patten though...

  2. Let him watch "Meet the Robinsons" one more time....then let him invent a way for my clothes to iron themselves!

  3. You should encourage him/her.  For all you know your child might invent something very useful, or even may save lives.

  4. ask him what he wants to invent and take him to museums to stimulate his mind.

  5. -Get him/her a book or two on inventors

-talk to him about his/her ideas

-invest in 'critical thinking' toys (like blocks, magnifying glasses, lincoln logs etc...)

-depending on child's age, take to various 'invention' museums

Good luck! It's always exciting for kids to have dreams and goals.

  6. nothing

as a child i wanted to be an actor, supermodel, dr, nun, housewife, chef, firefighter etc.

  7. encourage!  that's a great use of imagination - how fun for you!

  8. You encourage them...if its a small child then it probably wont last.

  9. First off I would be very proud of him and nuture that gift of wanting to create stuff ! The fact that he wants to go into this creative field means you have a very special child indeed !

I would first talk to him about it . You know really listen to all his ideas and encourage him that he or she can do it ! Then I would take a big bin and fill it with interesting stuff from around the house that you do not need and he can work with and you won't be mad . Also give him his own set of tools maybe buy a childs set .

Then I would take him on a creative adventure . Like to your local museums , amusement parks , or anywhere really . And tell him to bring a notebook and some pens and point out some cool stuctures and designs . Then have fun !

Also I would look online for maybe a junior inventors club or something with some fun tips and projects you guys can do together . Maybe you can buy a few science kits that grow and do stuff . I bought one for my cousin and it grows these weird moon pods . Also take him to the local library and get some how to books .

Bottom line just be proud of your kid ! Encourage his curiousity and talk to him about all the cool ideas in his head . Hey who know he might decide next week he wants to play pro ball or do something else which is cool also but it will never take away the time you guys bonded ! Your helping your kid find himself in supporting him will do wonders for his self esteem and other aspects in there life !

    Have fun !

  10. You nurture them and support them.  Chances are, they'll either find an amazing talent in inventing, or (since they're still a CHILD) change their mind.  Kids go through a lot of phases.  Someone else said that they wanted to be a bunch of different things, and that's often what happens.  At one point, after watching The Sound of Music, I wanted to be a nun.  I'm Jewish. :] I've since then changed my mind, and there's a distinct possibility, if not probability, that your child will too.  However, if they want to be a certain profession, you should encourage them (unless it's something absurdly inappropriate).  If you push them towards what YOU want them to be, they'll be unhappy and end up resenting it.  If they decide to go with your choice, they will always wonder what would happen if they had been allowed to try what they wanted.  If they follow their own path despite your unhappiness and you continue to try to change their mind, they will always wish that you had been more supportive

  11. Tell them what a great idea it is and how creative they are and support any other aspiration your child may have!!!  Duh!!!
