  1. You lose chlorine naturally two ways- sanitation and by the sun. If you simply wait the sunlight will burn off the chlorine. This process will be very quick (a couple hours) if you have no stabalizer in the pool.

  2. Really, just wait it out.  It will get evaporated or diluted on its own within a couple of days.  In the meantime, you can hold off on shocking it and turn down your chlorine generator/automatic chlorinator/floating dispenser.

Generally, high chlorine isn't necessarily harmful (unless it's extremely high).  If it's between 3-5 ppm, you'll notice more eye irritation and more of the chlorine smell in your hair and clothes when you get out of the pool.  But it won't really hurt you.  At least you know your pool doesn't have much bacteria in it for the next couple days and algae won't be growing - in this respect, it's better than having low chlorine!

Just give it time and add less chlorine to it while you wait.
