What do you do in a car, to entertain your self for long drives?

I have to drive by myself for about 8 hours!! What do would you do to entertain yourself while driving?? thanks!!

Watch road and traffic, sing old hymns and hot rod songs- 'little deuce coupe' and 'diesel on my tail' alternate with  'John browns body' and 'rock of ages'. 'Thunder Road' is another good one to keep you awake.

Well, I started doing this for my children, but I like it too- books on tape or CD. And lots of CDs of my favorite music, particularly the loud kind to keep me awake.

On long trips, I stop every 2 hours and take a break and the rest of the time I sing at the top of my voice.

i take plenty of different music with me on a long trip if im going by my self,if you have anyone with you it makes the time pass a lot faster,being alone though take plenty of different types of music,and once in a while change the type of music you listen to,that helps break the boredom of being on a long trip,and stay alert,this is the main thing to remember,good luck,and enjoy the trip.

i watch the traffic, and i listen to books on cd. i love iot. sometimes i just drive around toten to the book.

talk back to the talk show hosts and give long, brilliant speeches.

Enjoy the scenery. If you've driven that route before, look for new construction.

See how many a**holes ride your bumper.

Count and identify road-kill.

Listen to talk radio and call in.

In the summer, turn your heater on full, and see how long you can go before you are in your skivvies.

In the winter, open your windows, turn off your heater, let your windshield freeze over, and drive with your head out the window.

See how slow you can go before tractors try to pass you.

Wear strange makeup or costume and see how many kids you can scare or make laugh.

Cover your dash with beanie babies and talk to them.

Remove your shock absorbers and pretend you are on a boat in rough seas.

Get a CB and harass truckers.

Drive like you are intoxicated, then when you take a roadside sobriety test, pass it.

Pack 10 or so of your favorite CDs in a CD wallet, and play them one after another.  I'm a music lover, so that would keep me occupied for many hours if not the whole drive.  If you like sports, find out what city your passing through and get the game on the radio.  Or political talk radio.  You can also kill some time with bluetooth conversation.  8 hours is nothing.  I used to drive 6 for work all the time.

Got XM satellite radio to listen to my favorite music, news, & takl without having to flip between various terrestial radio stations.  Listen to the CB to stay informed on any potential problems & have a bluetooth enabled & connected cell phone to gab with family & friends.   Only used when traffic is light & weather is good.  When conditions go downhill, my cell phone goes off, put it on some mellow music, & focus on the road.  You can also play mental gymnastics by calculating how far from your present location to your destination or next stop, etc.

I use MP3 audio books.  But it has to be something that I'm interested in, otherwise my mind would zone out and lose track.
