  1. You become a teacher I'm assuming. You have to work a probation year I believe. Surely your university has explained all this to you.

  2. Well, assuming that you have secured a teaching post by then, you will start your NQT year (Newly Qualified Teacher) which involves an induction process. Induction involves mentoring from a senior member of staff, at least an hour less teaching every week to support your planning and development and a series of induction sessions on different aspects of teaching and learning, such as supporting SEN students, understanding EAL induction processes and behaviour management. Some sessions may be held at your school, others in your LA, so you get to meet lots of other NQT's - this is really valuable.

You will be observed regularly (at least every term) and will receive constructive feedback to help you improve. These can be quite focussed to help dvelop specific aspects of your practice.

Once your first year is finished you will recieve a certificate confirming you have passed induction and are therefore fully qualified.

If you dont complete your NQT year within 5 years of the PGCE you will lose your qualification, so it is a necessary element of the training process.

  3. It probably depends what state you call home.  I'm assuming that's some kind of professional growth plan?  In Arkansas, we start another one!

  4. You should have begun filling in your Career Entry Development Profile
