What do you do on the weekend for fun family time?

Just curious to see what other families do for family time on the weekend?

When I have my little nephew (4) and niece (7) during the summer I always try to think of fun things to do with them.  We go to the local museum (they like that), or we work in our vegetable garden with them, weeding and building new beds (they have their little tools they use) and then we go swimming in our pool when finished with the hard labor.

There is a tea house in a nearby town and on Saturdays we go there for lunch, sometimes.  We order our own pots of tea (or iced) and we get scones and little sandwiches to eat.  Sometimes we go miniature golfing, or to a local arcade and they each get $5 to play with.  Just something fun.  On a rare occasion we might take them to Disneyland or even to the San Diego Zoo, which is one of their favorites.  We try to keep it local though and less expensive.

Of course if we BBQ at night we have them help.  If vegetables need to be picked from the garden they help cut them off the stems.  They help wash them and even can help cut them, if Uncle Adam or I holds the knife and they put their hands over ours.  If mixing has to be done, they can mix.  Or they add food to the processor to make dressings for salad, etc.



Ahhh, now you got me going.  We didn't get them this summer so we have been missing them so much.  Now I'm all sad.....

We take our bikes to the woods or beach & take a picnic. Love itttt x

we have family night. we go to the store and buy pizza rolls, mozerella sticks, poppers, chips, ice cream and root beer (for floats) basically junk food. or we go to the area fast foods, taco bell, mc donalds and kfc. then we go to the movie rental place and rent a few movies. we go home and either cook our food or dish it up and sit as a family with doors locked, lights out and phone's turned off and watch movies. sometimes we'll get out board games and play them.

my kids are 7 and 10. sometimes we will play video games or we'll wait til night, turn out the lights and plug in our disco globes we got from chuck e cheese and have a dance party.we also do bead crafts. or we go to the movies and out to dinner.

sometimes we'll go to the lake and go fishing and have a picnic or go to the park and have a cook out.

sometimes we go to our friends house and have a bon fire
