  1. well on my first lesson i learned how to brush a horse, how to be safe around the horse, how to get on the horse, and how to make an emergency dismount.

  2. to fall off

  3. My first lesson was just learning all the pieces of equipment, brush a horse, and tighten their girths (etc...).  Then we were lead around once.  I know it sounds pretty boring, but then I was so excited about it.  Don't expect much, you are not going to be a great rider after wards and it will be hard to do things, but after a while you'll get the hang of it.  =D

  4. Well, for my first lesson, I spent 30 minutes with the instructor who showed me how to groom the horse, and what all the different brushes are called, and what to do withg each one. They she also showed me how to put the saddle on.

Then we went into the arena, and she showed me how to get on. then I spent the reast of the half hour just walking around to get the feel for the horse. I spent the last 5 minutes troting.

  5. i just walked around done some circle and shapes arround the riding ring and do a tiny bit of troting to see if you are a natueral :D

  6. well most people learn how to brush a horse and tack it and stuff like that and then ride it..some trainers have students ride bareback others use saddle first it depends on your trainer really but usually just how to proparly handle a horse and groom it

  7. I got the horse out of its stable, got showed how to get on it, i walked around and changed directions. I also trotted as well which i was soooo nervous about but was amazing once i got into it!

i also had to try to rise in the saddle while walking and then while in trot.

Then i got showed how to get off the horse.

It was a really great experience which im sure you'll love aswell!

  8. well first i leraned how to brush the horse using the many different brushes. Then i learned to pick out the hooves, and saddle. then we went out to the arena and just walked around the arena a bit. my instructor then made me reach out to each letter posted in the arena at the walk, just to give me more to do.She then had me do two point in the western saddle, which i though was so difficult. It was a good lesson, and i thought it was fun!

    good luck

EDIT: Fe FI Fo Fum i smell trolls around here!!

  9. Learn how to get on it !

  10. You'll learn the absolute basics. You'll probably learn how to safely lead a horse to the ring (you will probably have the entire lesson while still on a lead line). You'll learn how to mount, how to hold the reins, how to ask the horse to go right and left, and how to ask the horse the walk and halt. You might even get a few strides in at a sitting trot.

I was helping with a first time ever lesson this morning and that's what we covered!

  11. Expect to look up the bum of a big mare.
