  1. a thank you card at the end of the school year & lotsa help during the school year.

  2. I have a sister-in-law who is a preschool teacher, and she now has THREE trees up at Christmas in her home to accommodate all the little trinkets given to her over the years. Although she appreciates every one, she does get frustrated with it. I asked her what would make a great alternative gift and here are some of her suggestions:

    1. Learning aids for the classroom available at teachers' stores and educational kids stores - things like those cool alphabets that go around the top of the wall, symbols of the seasons, etc.

    2. Stickers, rubber stamps and all those neat things preschool teachers use to celebrate the successes of little minds.

    3. Fresh flowers. The flowers may fade, but the memory of your thoughtfulness never will.

  3. I bought a bag of Hershey's (Mr. Goodbar, Crackle, Hershey Choc and Dark Choc.) and wrapped each in a paper that had different messages on each (printed each message using Microsoft Word and colored ink).  The message said things like "Mrs. Smith, You are the best!  Love, Sierra."  I did like 12 different messages:  You make learning fun, I'll miss you, Have a great summer, I enjoyed the field trips, etc.  Then I put the wrapped candy in a clear cellophane bag and tied with ribbon.  It turned out really cute and it is really inexpensive!  I also have gotten housewarming candles that I love!  P.S.  I am a teacher too!

  4. for xmas I did cards with scratch off lotto tickets. I like to be practical and worry that they've already gotten 40 candles and 50 various treats to eat.

  5. flowers.

your child could make a card.

i don't think you should spend alot of money on the teacher just to show appreacation; homemade things are usually more meaningful & try to get your toddler involved with it.

  6. Flowers are always nice. I have gave bath and body works

products and it was a big hit. Also with everyone eating healthier now days a nice fruit basket would also be appreciated.

  7. I'm a Nanny so I'll just give a few ideas.

If your child has a nanny (being the only one) then a small gif would be fine. But if it is a daycare situation, something that won't last will be best.

Just a card is great, it means a lot when you know someone has noticed you did a good job and takes the time to tell you. Or just tell her to her face.

As someone else mentioned, flowers or gift cards.

The lady I work for once (for my 18 B-day) took me  2hrs away to see a skating show she knew I liked and took me out for dinner. Of course we are very personal.

It all depends on the situation. closeness vs a friendly employee relationship. You make the call

But what you never forget is a warm thank-you

  8. how about a gift card?

  9. I have always given caretakers and teachers a gift certificate for a popular local restaurant or some kind of service like a pedicure or facial. Depends on what I think they might enjoy accompanied by a card expressing thanks and appreciation.

  10. a mug that says #1 teacher?

  11. depends on how much you like the teacher...If I really liked my childs teacher I would give her a gift card to get a manicure or pedicure...and if she was just ok, maybe a mug or picture frame or a vase...

  12. Flowers, a card handmade by my son and a gift card to the mall or something from Bath & Body Works.

  13. My kids teachers always love fresh flowers! However your help during the school year is way better then anything you could buy!

I am always at the school with my kids teachers and now during the summer we have coffee once a week without the kids!

    Working moms... GIFT CARDS!!

Oh yeah a hug from your child and hand made cards are good too

  14. I used to be a teacher and I can't tell you how many of the same "cute teacher stuff" we get that we don't know what to do with.  My favorite thing to get as a gift was a gift card to a local coffee shop.  After being all day with the kids that was a treat, plus teachers are underpaid so anything gift card for a dinner or something was great.
