i need to exercise. i'm out of shape. but i can never get the motovation. i used to go to curves, but it was boring, and even after working out there for years, i never got that feeling that i had to go. i always felt like c**p afterwards, sooo tired for the rest of the day, sore that day even if i stretched out. i've tried going for walks but i'm always scared about asthma flair-ups. i'm not medicated for it, my dr says its only exercise induced so he wont give me anything, but one day i went for a run (had to run a mile for school - outside of school) and i ended up having such a bad attack halfway thru i was laying on the sidewalk for 45 minutes before my mom found me when i never came home... so i'm terrified that's going to happen again. last time i went for a walk i got such horrible shin splints and my hips hurt for about a week, i could hardly walk or sit!

i'm soooo out of shape. i'm only 26, i'm not overweight (137lbs), but i need to get in better shape. i work just about full time, and i go to school afterwards. some days i dont get home until 10pm. i go to bed at 11:30 and get up at 7 to get ready for work. i'm exhaused all the time as it is, i dread the idea of getting up earlier or even going to bed later just to do something for 30 minutes. i cant afford to join a real gym (and have quit curves just to save the extra money) since i'm in the process of buying a new home right now too.

how can i motovate myself? what do you do? do you still have to force yourself to exercise or have you hit that point where you need to to feel better? cause i never hit that point

  1. I've found motivation in different ways, and sometimes you have to find the right carrot and stick for you.  For example, when I first got serious about working out regularly, the ability to play a round of a video game was a good reward.

You also don't need to do 30 minutes of exercise at once--if you break it up into 3 10 minute chunks, or 2 15 minute chunks, maybe you'll be able to squeeze it in more.  Maybe you start parking farther away from work/school and walking a few more steps, just to fit in some extra activity.  There's more tips for this in the links below.

    Good luck!

  2. All I do... when I go is, picture myself gaining more & more weight vs. how s**y I want to be and PRESTO... I'm out the door!

  3. Music usually motivates me. It also helps if you can have a friend to work out with and to talk to.
