What do you do to help others/or to make someone smile?

Smile at them. If it doesn't work, giving them a small gift usually does the trick. Small meaning a sweet, a rose, a bar of chocolate etc.

For people I know, If I know they're having a rough day I'll give them a little treat or draw them a picture (I draw very well), I'll tell a joke.

I but them a gift certificate to one of those massage parlors that offer a happy ending.  You know what I mean.

That always makes my friends smile.

I had a game once that I played at a river when I was bored. I just asked questions to people who weren't talking to other people. I think that most people like just talking. Like for no reason. At least I do, lol.

Also smiling usually works, unless they don't like you, then they'll probably think you're mocking them.

Smile, look them directly in the eyes (that's a big deal, people can tell you're sincere) and ask them how they're doing.  Or a compliment is always nice.

I make sure I smile at people whose path I cross on any given day, and if they smile back, I usually say hi.  Simple courtesies and friendliness should go hand in hand, but more often than not, people forget the manners they were brought up with or else they never learned them in the first place.  Things like holding a door for someone, saying thank you for whatever...everyday things like this need to be remembered.  Not only would it help others who might be having a crummy day to have a better one, but you get to feel good too.

Usually all I have to do is smile and people will smile back.  It's contagious.  Try it.

tell a funyy joke or try to help them with their problems. if that fails i had them a beer and say cheer up!
