What do you do to keep from getting bored of the daily routine and get a better outlook on life?

I'm a junior in high school and summer just ended two weeks ago. I'm just so tired of school already. I mean its like been the same routine everyday for three years. I go to school. I go home. I eat. I sometimes have play rehearsal or debate practice. I do my homework. I go to bed. I wake up and do it all over again.

There's not much that I can think of doing to stop myself from being bored. I joined drama so that I would get to be in the plays and have something to do. Same thing with debate team. I just can't think of anything to do to change my routine. It's not like I'm old enough to like have a midlife crisis and quit my job and start doing something different. It's not like I can go on a trip. Money is tight and my parents are not going to be planning trips anytime soon.

I guess I just feel trapped and I don't have much to look forward to in the near future. I mean sure I'll get to go to college and that will change things, but I still have to finish this year and next year of school before that happens. How can I have a better outlook on life and stop feeling depressed with the everyday routine?

  2. omg i sometimes i feel the same way!!! Maybe wut u could use is a new haircut or color? u could get a different job maybe. try doing some things out of the ordinary

  3. Trying reading A NEW EARTH- Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. It is really good at helping with these thoughts.

    The thing is, you have to find happiness in big and little things. Try to do something that makes you happy everyday.

    I used to work at a job that I hated. Everyday during lunch I would plan a small trip to go some place that I had never been before. I would go to a park or a museum or just take a walk. I would take pictures and then I would put them on a blog. Each day I would have a little adventure all by myself and just get away from the c**p.

    Recently I quit my job, because I hated it. I just can't do something that I hate. I am in school and I am studying things that make me happy.

    You really just have to find a way to clear your mind appreciate the things that you have in your life. If you are not happy about something, figure out why and figure out how to change it. If you are working towards something that you love to do, then it won't be as hard to do all of the boring c**p that is along the way.

    Finally, I make sure that I surround myself with great people (my friends and husband). I also make sure to exercise (really helps with depression) and journal.

    You have to remember that mental health and happiness are not just "supposed" to happen. Life can be hard and boring. It is up to you to get exactly what you want out of it.

  4. I get how you feel. Maybe take a little time to relax and do something you enjoy or hang out with friends.
