Amide taking care of kids, running errands, doing laundry, making dinner, and trying to eat healthy I find it hard to motivate myself to clean house sometimes. What do you do to get yourself to clean?

  1. I can totally empathize. I have twin 3 year olds and I'm pregnant now. I can barely make it through the day, let alone clean. My suggestion: invite someone to come over in a day or two. If you're like me, you'll put off the cleaning and then rush around at the last minute getting it done. This makes it so that you'll actually do it, and you'll get it done quickly instead of starting, then getting distracted, etc.

You could also arrange for the kids to go to their grandparents for a day. Set a schedule for yourself.... I.E. from 11 am to 1 pm you get relaxation time! Then, from 1 pm to 3, you clean. Then you have a little time to wind down, then pick up your kids! Good luck.

  2. Just SEEING the mess! lol But then again, I'm a cleaning freak! haha I straighten up the house every day, vacuum once a week, and do a MAJOR cleaning once a month.

  3. I JUST TURN ON SOME MUSIC THAT I REALLY LIKE SOMETHING TO SING ALONG TO AND JUST START SOMEWHERE AND MOVE FROM ONE ROOM TO THE NEXT UNTIL YOUR DONE.

  4. well you should think that guests will be arriving today and they might give compliments of your good looking house

  5. I just have a simple rule, for myself: I want the house clean enough, where, if someone calls and wants to visit, it will only take a short while to tidy up... But, really, even if someone just drops by (which I honestly hate, and find rude), it's not bad, at all... I have 3 kids, and one on the way... I don't expect hospital-like cleanliness, and I'd rather it looked a little 'lived in.' :)

But, to answer your question, MESS motivates me... I don't like a big mess, so I'll get on it, if it comes to that, which it rarely does, cause we put things back, when we're done... It's not fun, so I just get over it, and do it.

  6. I am in the same boat has you. I hate cleaning and the kids would mess it up right of way. The whole house is a mess right now. And I am trying to clean the house but the kids keep getting in my way. I rent some kids video that they picked out and I have them watch that while I cleaning or try to anyways. I do errands with my four year and my six year old in the park program or while they are in school. Laundry I know got to get done no matter want. Kids would keep saying they hungry till I fix something. Cleaning is boring for me and I sure hate doing it. Right now I am pregnant. I just taking my time. I taking a little break cleaning and then I get back to it. I tell myself I need to clean.

  7. Make a cd of your favorite songs and play it loud so you can hear it through the entire house, i hate cleaning.. Music is motivating and makes it less of a drag =]

  8. We invite someone over for dinner. Seriously! We host our church for potluck every Friday night, so the house is guaranteed clean on Friday..and usually they help do dishes and such so it's not so bad afterwards either.

  9. I go through and spring clean the whole house every room cleaning from ceiling to floor walls and everything, then I try to create a cleaning schedule so its not that much work. dusting (tu, thru, sat)  on days after I vacuum (mon, wed, fri) sweep ever monday and mop. I break it up so each day is different, depending on how old your kids are try having them help. My mom turned laundrey in to a game, she folded it and then we took it playing mail man and put the laundrey away (lol in the make believe mail boxes.) Make a game and the kids wont mind helping with you

  10. put on some music you like and blast it througout the house it always get me going.

  11. honestly, housekeeping is NOT a priority of mine. i don't have kids yet (pregnant wtih the first) but if i clean my house once a week i am happy with that. i don't understand people who obsessively clean their house every day. it's just not one of the things in life that matters SO much to me that i will kill myself or run myself ragged to get it done. knowing that only once a week or so i have to clean makes it easier to do. or i may just do one room at a time.

  12. I normally just tell the wife to get on with it.
