What do you do to rid your house of housemartins?

They are tucked in the roof line and are [pooing all over the window frame and drive.

Don't be mean. They will go soon when the young have flown the nest. Then have a big clean up. You are among the few privileged to host house martins. In the mantime, enjoy watching them.

You're stuck while they are nesting they are protected by law and I seem to remember they are on the endagered list.

You will have to go up there in the Autumn and run chicken wire or some other material between the facia and the roof, so they can't get in there next year.

You won't be popular with the neighbours.

You are so lucky to be able to play host to a family of martins. Next year build a martin house or two, put them high up on a pole and enjoy having them there. They eat LOTS of insects. They are a protected species. Block the access to your home and they will move right into their new home(s) and every one will be happy. Good Luck, they bring it!!!
