Depends on the group, sometimes it if fun to go with the group that will make it a challenge.

How wonderful it would be if you could clone yourself at moments like that.  But, I think you should be the captain and then bring the people that YOU want on your team to you.  

Obviously, you are a special player of whatever sport -- maybe all around.  Take control of the situation and then you'll be master of all, not tossed about like a leaf in the wind.

Plus, your team would probably always win!
