When you play Rugby and someone become injured (whether it was on your side or the other side) do you kneel until they are removed from the field? Is it an official rule?

  1. You play on until play is stopped or if it's a serious injury. Earlier this year my team were playing and one of the opposition players broke his leg, unfortunately it would take about an hour for an ambulance to come so we were awarded a walkover as we were winning and it was near the end .

  2. I have never heard of taking a knee, though you always clap when they get up (if they do, though that does sound morbid).

Sometimes, play is continued while they are checked out, but I've never seen that. Often, in my collegiate club, the captain will ask for "Minute sir" when they realize someone is down.

Both teams usually use the opportunity to get water.

  3. its up to the team with the injured player they can choose to kneel or just the captain kneels

  4. It is not an official rule, but it is considered polite in some leagues. In my league, the team of the injured player takes a kneel, and the opposing team is free to stand or kneel.

  5. Never heard of that rule in New Zealand, Maybe point and laugh if its the other team.....Nah,we would just stand around and wait till he left the field, take in some drinks and have a breather.
