  1. Insomnia is in fact the inability to sleep. Thats what it is.

  2. I take an allergy medicine each night that has an ingredient that makes you sleepy...but sometimes that doesn't do it for me.

Sometimes all I can do is lay in bed and pray or listen to soothing music.

Repetition works well too. Think of a word or two. Keep thinking about and repeating those words over and over again..you'll get tired of it eventually and doze off.....

  3. Yoko Ono said in one of her book, "If you are not sleepy, don't, who said you need sleep 8 hours a day?"

Well maybe not healthy but I love the Philosophy!

Causing stress is worth than lack of sleep.... I think.

  4. I had overwhelming anxiety and insomnia. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda.

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

  5. There are varying degrees of the condition, and therefore a variety of treatments.  Try the more moderate ones first before moving on to drastic measures.

    * Try getting plenty of exercise early in the day.

    * Take a warm or hot bath before bed.

    * Put a few drops of lavender essental oil on your pillow (must be therapeutic grade).

    * Drink chamomile tea an hour or so before bed.

    * Herbal supplements to try: Valerian (can be used on a regular basis), Melatonin (not for regular use).

    * Try this CD that gets your brain waves to sleep state: http://www.brainsync.com/product.asp?spe...

If none of these work, there are some interesting pharmaceuticals available from your doctor.  Good luck!

  6. I usually do chores around the house, go over my bills or get online. If it's really bad, I will take a sleeping pill to help relax me as long as I have enough time to get some sleep before I go to work.

  7. Do something that is not stimulating, read a good book, fold the laundry, clean or organize something in your home....

  8. Try putting on some soothing music on, then sit up and meditate. Don't worry about falling asleep, just try and relax as best as you can. When you are feeling sleepy again, lay down and relax.

  9. read a book...i get sleepy like that sometimes or count to 100 or more.

    let me think of more

  10. I find that lying in bed tossing and turning can be excruciating. I have to stand up and walk. I do that for a couple of hours if need be then try laying down again. Forcing myself to stay in bed just stresses me out more.

  11. The most important thing is to get a good sleep hygiene. Drink a glass of milk before you go to sleep. Make sure your bed is only meant for sleeping and not studying. Don't be too anxious about wanting to fall asleep. If you can't, get up and read a book or do something until you get sleepy. Don't exercise just before going to bed. And lastly, be regular about your sleeping time.

  12. I have the same problem not being able to sleep. I was averaging about 2 hours of sleep a night. I started talking to some friends and one of my friends told me that she takes the natural supplement Melatonin. It is made naturally in your body, but there are times especially in times of stress that the amount of melatonin produced in your body goes down. Melatonin helps regulate your sleep and wake cycle. Anyway it comes in pill form.  You can find it in a health food store or in the health/ organic section of your local grocery store. It comes either in 3mg or 5mg. I would suggest starting out with 3mg. Take it about an hour before you plan to go to sleep. It works pretty well and you should feel refreshed when you wake up. Oh and for the first few time you take it you may wake up with a headache. I would take a Tylenol along with the Melatonin for the first few days and by the third time you use it, you should be fine. Good luck.

  13. Herb filled pillow would help them: Due to hectic lifestyle and stress, insomnia has become global epidemic. If left untreated, insomnia can have adverse effect on your health. There has been a steep rise in the number of accidents when the driver has drifted off to sleep while driving. Though there are many medications in the market, using the herb-filled pillow is the safest option.

Once Lauren tested her pillow successfully, she started displaying her product in trade exhibition. Her product caught the fancy of the visitors and she successfully booked orders for more than 100 pillows. When these buyers put these pillows on display in their shops, all the pillows were sold out quickly.

  14. Sleep experts tell us to stay up until we are sleepy. Don't watch TV it is too stimulating right before bed, read instead. Then always get up at the same time every morning. Even if you are tired the first few days from going to bed very late because you are wide awake and then getting up at say 8am no matter what will start to set your body clock back to correct day and night.

  15. i dont sleep and get some chores knocked out.

i went to the bus stop 1 hour early and chilled for a while one time

if i could i would just pack some heat, walk to McDonalds and get a small coke and walk around a while and enjoy the night.

  16. There's lots you can try such as deep meditation, hypnosis and progressive relaxation.

Insomnia has many causes, so it's really not possible to give you a single solution. If you can be more specific in your question, you will probably get better answers.

  17. Well, if you're shying away from meds, then I suggest eating things like pastas or nuts befrore bed. Warm baths will help you as will doing this routine approxiametely an hour before your normal bedtime.

Cut down on the sugar intakes during the day and stop drinking things like coffee (if you are)

  18. If you are married, ask your spouse to talk about how they feel, same as if you have a GF/BF.

  19. if this doesn't happen alot, you can do what my doctor just told me, and its take something like benadryl, i believe its an allergy medicine, all it does is cause a little drowsiness and it is non addictive!

if you want to do something natural, look up a list of foods that make you sleepy, like ice cream, and carbs, turkey, milk, etc. that usually does the trick in a half hour or so.

watch tv in a dark room until your eyes get tired and want to sleep, or stay on the computer until the same thing happens!

You could also just try staying up the whole night, and not sleeping at all the next day, youre guaranteed to fall asleep by  the next night for sure, that whole day will suck but its so very work it  trust me i just did it!!

If the problem doesnt go away in a few days or more than a week, i would consult a doctor because you may have an actual form of insomnia that requires medication. Then they'll prescribe something for you like lunesta and youll be good to go :)

    haha hope that helps!

  20. I read till I'm drop dead tired.  Experts say to stay away from TV as it's too stimulating although my husband falls to sleep every night in front of the TV.  Exercising is good but it has to be done hours before you plan on going to bed...if too close to bedtime it will do the opposite and keep you up.  How does warm milk sound?  Sounds gross to me but is supposedly helps.  Of course you have the over the counter sleep aids such as unisome or tylenol pm, however it you take these too late you may fall to sleep but the next day you don't feel like you've had a good nights sleep.  Also natural food stores or vitamin stores have natural sleeping agents.  If your insomnia is really bad I'd consult your physician.  If you have intermittent insomnia that's usually cause by some stress in you life.

  21. Go for a run!! Or bike fast and far.. Just wear yourself out!!

  22. maybe you should go to the doctor and see if they can help you out somehow
