I'm not going to talk to anyone about it whether it's a Doctor, a friend or a family member because i'm not a sissy. What should I do, what helps?

  1. First thing is say to yourself, oh thank god i'm normal.  Into every life a little stress and depression will fall, the sun doesn't always shine.  Look at what is causing the stress and try to create some relief within those situations.  With  challenges come great lessons. Research and read up on depression, educate yourself about it so it's less scary.

I'm no sissy, I've blown up cars, made bombs, negotiated with major intense army generals from the middle east, travelled in some scary places through Africa etc etc. I have managed my depression for over 20 years and it's not easy.  My father suffered with depression and alcoholism his whole life and he muscled it through and would not get help and let me tell you, that sucked large for him and for us who loved him.  He died without really feeling good and that's sad because there is help.

The best advise I can give you is Exercise Daily, get sunshine plus extra Vitamin D, get good sleep, don't drink any alcohol at all cos it's a depressant, eat well, do some meditation or something that would be an equivalent that you're comfortable with.  If you only do one, EXERCISE.  Another exercise that helps and has science to back it up -when you feel low or to avoid feeling low, smile, you don't have to mean it since your brain doesn't know or care.  Smile, and hold it as long as you can and do it as often as you can and your brain will get the chemicals moving.

If you're severely down, then you really should tell someone, anyone you trust.  At least call a hotline.  Bless.

  2. Actually your "condition' is quite normal.

More guys are stressed out and depressed than most people realize.

If it's really getting to you, maybe you should consider talking to a Doc.

    It's not being a "sissy".

  3. Talking doesn't make you a sissy, but being afraid to talk does.

First try to find what the problem is by yourself, and try to deal with it if you can. But if you really want some help, strap on a pair and talk to someone about it.

  4. Take a break , and just give some free time to yourself .

    Lyrics:

It’s been so long since you felt like you were loved

    So what went wrong

But do you know there’s a place where you belong

    Here in my arms

When you feel like you’re alone in your sadness

And it seems like no one in this whole world cares

And you want to get away from the madness

You just call my name and I’ll be there

You just call my name and I’ll be there

The pain inside has erased your hope for love

    But soon you will find

That I’ll give you all that your heart could ever want

    And so much more

    You just call my name

    You just call my name

Call my name, say it now

I want you to never doubt

The love I have for you is so alive

Call my name, say it now

I want you to never doubt

The love I have for you is so alive

    You just call my name

    You just call my name

You just call my name now

The love I have for you is so alive

The love I have for you is so alive

    You just call my name

    You just call my name

    You just call my name

This is a great, truthful song by a christian band called third day

its basically Jesus, the son of God, saying to you that you only need to call His name and He will come to your aid no matter who you are.

  6. You can suck it up and go see someone or end up like my husband did... After being with him for over 7 years... I tried to convince him to get help while he was "slightly depressed" I tried everything I could... talking to him, supporting him in whatever he did... he is now "severely depressed" with anxiety I left him over 4 weeks ago... he finally seen what he had done to me and our relationship, because "he didn't want to be a sissy"....you can go find help now or really be in bad shape further down the road... Mental health is as important as your physical health... would you go to the doctor if you thought you had cancer?  well in a way depression is a cancer that will eat away at you...
