and someone gets behind you, tailgating blinking their headlights on and off? I have no other route to get in to work and this happens all the time. I seem to be driving the slowest and I don't know what to do because I feel as if I am in danger.

  1. just continue to drive. if they want to pass you could let them.  I usually pull to the right more to give them room to pass if it is SAFE to do so.

  2. IGNORE THEM.

You have every right to drive at the speed limit.  It is the proper thing to do.  If someone has a problem with it, too bad for them.

Otherwise, wait for them to tailgate really close and then slam on the brakes and collect the insurance payout.....  hehe j/k.

  3. You could wait for them to pass, get their license plate and call the police.  Wreckless driving is illegal.

That or do what I do, slow down 5 more mph, and hope they rear end you so they can buy you a new car.

  4. to answer your question. i watch all the traffic pass me in the left lane.

  5. If you're in the right lane doing 60, there's no reason for anyone to be tailgating and flashing lights. If you do think you're going too slow, maybe speeding up a little would help.

  6. if your in the right hand lane doing the limit then those ppl should pass you on the left..your in the right in this even though your going slower than them your in the driving lane and they should be passing you on the left...without bothering you.. it would be alot worse if you were in the left lane.

  7. You will see the number to call the highway patrol on the side of the roadway, call that number and report it. They will appear out of thin air to stop a motorist in violation, or at least it seems that way.

  8. Take a bus......give up your license granny and sell the Buick

  9. If you are driving the slowest I would recoommend speeding up.

The slowest drivers are usually going UNDER the limit. Which is also a hazard. Drive the limit +/- 10 depending on conditions.

If you are nervous driving the limit you should get more practice somewhere else....you are the hazard.

As an x-cop calling us on minor traffic violations is just an annouance. We where polite on the phone but we never sent anyone. Especially if your calling because your scared that someone passed you quickly.

if you write down their plate and spend the time to request a ticket be sent. they will get a letter in the mail...that is all. Not to mention, if you don't feel comfertible driving ; writing plates down at the same time is reckless.

  10. What time of the day are you having problems?  Are you running with your headlights & tail lights on in poor weather conditions & near dark?  Walk around your vehicle to make sure you have nothing that could pose a road hazard.  Check your speedometer to see if it is working properly.  If you are doing 60mph, it should take you about 1min to go 1mi.  Most states will give you 4miles over the posted speed limit unless the highway patrol is in a bad mood.

I have slowed down to get a tailgater off of my rear, since I drive a governed semi & tailgaters are trouble waiting to happen.  Most interstates have parallel US or state routes.  They may take a little longer, but reduce the chances of the tailgaters.  Good luck!!

  11. Slow down to the minimum speed allowed and stay there until they pass. That's usually very soon. Once in a while I get the idiot who is AFRAID to pass, so they stay right behind you no matter WHAT speed you go. If you move one lane to the LEFT, they will zoom past you at light speed, then you can go back to your lane and speed.
