What do you do when you can't stand a best friend's family member?

Do you avoid them? Ignore them? Be rude back them?

I haven't really ran into a situation like that, but I would probably avoid them.  If I didn't, I would end up saying things, that I wouldn't be able to take back.  I can be a real smart *** when some one pushes the right buttons.  My mouth has gotten me into trouble quite often.I try to stay away from those kind of people, so as to keep my mouth in check.
