My sister was represented by an attorney on July 8 and he was disbarred on july 27. He never told her that he didn't have a license. He also failed to make the court aware.

  1. What? You had Clinton representing you? That must have cost a lot.

  2. 1. Inform the court, and ask for a continuance.

    2. Contact the State Bar Association so they can pursue additional actions on this individual.

    3. Conctact the State Bar Association and get the name of an Attorney who can help her in both cases.

  3. Contact the State Bar in your state. They have a disciplinary unit, which includes both administrative and criminal actions against attorneys. They may or may not work cases of practicing law without a license in your state. If they don't, they will refer you to your local police. Most state bars provide access to public disciplinary actions on their web site.

  4. If he only represented her on 7/8 then he wasn't disbarred at the time he represented her.

OK.  First, if she had an adverse ruling, I thnk she should immediately seek legal counsel to determine whether the result can be opened up by virtue of the fact that she was not represented by an attorney.  Second, the fact that someone who was not licensed was representing your sister as an attorney should be reported to your local bar association.  Third, it's possible she may have a civil action against the fake attorney - she needs to speak with a real, licensed attorney to discuss all of her various options.

  5. Contact your state bar and make a complaint for unauthorized practice of law. The attorney also perpetrated a fraud upon the court by failing to inform the court of his standing with his license.
