We just setup our above ground pool and before we put the first round of chemicals in, it rained. One we ran our test, we found we had high alkinlity. We were told to add pH minus and shock. Once we did that our pool turned from light green to copperbrown/green. Now our alkinlity is super high still and our pool looks like pond water. We are simply at a loss now to what we should do to make the pool look good before we take our first swim. Please help!

  1. Take a sample of your pool water to your local water plant and ask if they can do some routine tests.

If no help here, try a testing lab if you can afford it; ie expect a charge of 100$.

Otherwise, drain the pool, and refill it.

  2. Hey, we have a pool to so i asked my dad, and this was his answer, it's probably algae. We get rid of it by chlorine, algae killer, and nothing else but good old sunlight!!! so maybe pick some out at your local pool store, I heard they even sell it at Wal-Mart or Home Depot!! Good Luck to you and your pool!!!;)

  3. Filter, filter, filter is most of important thing. Also add a correct amount of a good cologigator along with an algicide. When you first start up in the spring you should run you vacume pool, backwash then run your filter 12 hours a day. It should clear up and bring things to a level that you can maintain.
