What do you do when you hit a road sign?

We just had a ice storm and on the way home from school today i hit a sign had no idea what to do so i just left it as it barely stood ... no damage to my truck or anything like that ... should i call the police ... or 1800signrepair or what? I am absolutly clueless.

I would just forget it if there was ice. The phone book might have a number to call.

aww c'mon leave  the sign alone the city will use your tax money to fix it anyway.

Call the police because if someone else saw you and reports it then you will be in more trouble if you do nothing.

Wow, these guys are all upstanding citizens. Makes me feel bad about the first answer that came to my mind.

Stuff it in the back of your car, and drive off, laughing evilly the whole way.

call whichever department plows the road where it happened

Call the DOT. Department of Transportation. Let them know what happened. Its better to get it fixed than someone not know what is up ahead and die because of it.

If you call it in they'll ask you to pay for it.  

I hit a sign once, it's kind of a funny story.  

Every day when I left my house, I'd get to the end of my street that ended at a four-lane highway with an unimproved center area (with eucalyptus trees).  

Every day I'd drive across the dirt & weeds center divider area (no curbs) to turn left.  

One day I came to the four-lane, looked both ways, went straight ahead and w*p, Cal trans had planted a "NO LEFT TURN" sign smack dab in the middle of the center divider!

I never even saw the thing before I ran straight on into it.  I buckled it in half, the sign hit my hood before the whole thing, flimsy metal post and all, went under my car.  

I sure as h**l didn't call it in.
