  1. So what if she is about to retire. She has no right what so ever to be hitting anyone in her care. I have worked with mentally disabled people for many years and I have been hit, kicked, punched, you name it! But there has never been a time where I have or wanted to hit them back. You have definitley done the right thing, though it is a shame as people who work in the care sector are constantly told if you see something , say something...so we do and nothing gets done. I would defintley take it further, in England we would go to the local education authourity. I really hope something gets done about this. Good Luck!

  2. Um...you are a mandated reporter I would think...at least in Illinois..tell your principal and if nothing happens you call yourself  You are obligated....

  3. tell the parent of the child and see if the principal dont do something about it but you got to be sure she hit the child

  4. Could it be her last year of teaching and maybe she will retire after this year?

I'm sure the principal is aware of her actions. If this is a job you want to keep, stay out of it.

Does she hit the child every day or was it just once? If it is a regular thing, talk to the principal again.

  5. Call child protective services and make a report. They will then open a case and investigate.

This can turn into something serious and should be dealt with ASAP.

  6. If you took this info to the Principal, and nothing was done , then you need to contact the Superintendent immediately!!!! If nothing happens then go to the School Board or call the local news station. Unfortunately, in this country, teacher who have reached tenure are almost impossible to fire. Most likely she is very close to retirement, so they (principal) doesn't want to damage her reputation. This is an outrage and it happens far more than we hear about. You are a brave person, and you have done the right thing. At least you know that you will have done all you could. Also, thank God for people like you who look out and stand up for those who cannot. My last piece of advice is to document where, when, who, and what time the abuse took place, as well as document everyone you tell. Good luck.

  7. sue her!!!!!!!!!!!11

  8. If the principal won't do anything about it you should report it to either the police or to the local social services agency.
